Sea-Tac!

First of all...did you know that SeaTac is an actual CITY? It's not just the name of an airport. That was my "eureka" moment of the vacay.

Yes! I was in Seattle last weekend...visiting my BFFFFFFFFFFsssss. I'm so glad I have friends that live in such a nifty city. Seattle is one of my favorites. In fact, I tried to convince Tim to apply to several grad schools in the Northwest; to no avail.

Michelle, Maddie, Amanda, Emme, Annie, and myself tromped all around the city. We squeezed so many activities in such a small amount of time, that I can't even remember all of them. Thankfully, Maddie has already documented our activities in writing. Also thankfully, I have no qualms about straight up plagiarizing both our activities list, as well as the following pictures which came from Maddie's camera. :)

Toulouse Petite late night happy hour straight from the airport • Wild Mountain Cafe for brunch • Green Lake walk • Pike Place Market for tea and donuts • Espresso, often • Ballard Ave. shops • Bastille for pre-dinner cocktails • Tarasco for beer and pool while waiting for dinner • Delancey for wood-fire pizza and wine • maybe back to Tarasco for karaoke, where we made K. Perry proud • Molly Moon's for a couple of pints (of ice cream) • lots of Nyquil • Emmer & Rye for brunch • Gas Works Park • University Village for Starbucks and shopping • take-out Thai food and Step Up 3 • Portage Bay Cafe for brunch • Golden Gardens • ...and back to Sea-Tac for a sad goodbye...

It was exceedingly windy here. Thankfully we were at times distracted by a group of men and women all clad in short red dresses and skirts. We thought it might perhaps be a Valentines celebration; but it was quite the contrary. From what I understand, the group is Seattle's own Hash House Harriers; a drinking/running club. Should you care to learn more--or for those living in Seattle--should you care the join : here's more info.

In front of the Public Market, although our kind photographer missed the sign slightly...

Maddie. She drinks espresso now. Which is awesome.

Steve was delicious

Oh how I love this commercial. There's an even shorter version on TV which is even better.

Early Spring?

Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring this year. I'm here to say that he got it wrong. As I sit here in my kitchen, I'm watching inches of snow hit the ground. The ground that is already covered with inches of snow from the last storm; which ended yesterday. Blanche was caked under about 2 inches of ice. Sheer ice that made my knuckles bleed when my frostbitten hands slipped off the ice-scraper and skidded up and down my windshield. Not Cool.

I'm also here to say that if Phil keeps predicting the weather wrong, I'm siding with PETA and their quest to change Punxsutawney Phil into an animatronic groundhog.

Phil

Phil Again

Just kidding. Phil is so cute! And apparently, immortal. He is given a dose of "groundhog punch" every summer which is meant to extend his life for seven years. I want to know what's in the punch, patent that ish, and then save lives!

lol dogzzz

Ever since I found out about LOL cats (which I'm pretty sure I can credit to Madeline Jacks), I've been quite fond of perusing through the pictures. I even went so far as to make Tim download an application on his iphone that allows me quick and easy access to LOL Cats.

As destiny would have it, I chanced upon LOL Dogs the other night; although I like to call them LOL Dogzzzz. Looking at LOL dogzzz pictures turned into looking at awkward pet photos, which finally translated into awkward family photos.

Enjoy some choice pics below. Warning...some might shock and disturb you. BUT....I DID confirm with Tim that these were all appropriate for the bloggo.

SHNOW!

One of the great things about Colorado is the fact that it snows. Or shnows, as I like to call it.

Sometimes it's predicted. Often it's not.

Other than the fact that it took me 45 minutes to drive 3.5 miles last night due to icy conditions, and getting the beginning stages of frostbite while trying to scrape the ice off off my car (Blanche) so I could see out the windows, there's NOTHING I don't like about shnow.

Ignore the naked trees. A pox upon the Pine Beetle!

Jobsickles

I feel like I'm constantly on the look-out for new job opportunities. I envy the vision of the job stability that I once imagined my future to have. Then I realized that life sometimes gets in the way....

With a impending move in our near future, I'm on the cusp of starting the beloved job search all over again. (If anyone reading this has contacts in Chicago, I'd love to be connected with them!!) So what kind of job am I going to be looking for? Of course one with a super impressive title. Google, being one of my best friends, offered input into this. I was given the following suggestions upon my search...

Smutter: If I could award a job title for sounding dirtier than it actually is, a smutter would take the cake. It's actually a job that involves tending to grain machines, and removing any foreign objects before milling. Highlight: smutters can make up to 20K a year!

No thanks.

Comb Capper: These professionals whack off the caps of honeycomb to extract the honey from inside. A hidden job benefit: working in a perpetually warm climate where bees can live year-round. Santa Barbara, I'm coming back to yoooooooou!

Powder Monkey: Sounds like a energetic ski-bum to me. But no. A powder monkey is a person who stores explosives--think dynamite, blasting powder, or fireworks. They are also around to help enforce safety regulations. Sounds important, but given my propensity for dropping things, as well as my love for candles...I'm going to pass on this one.

Blood-Bank Booking Clerk: First of all, I'm not good at tongue twisters. Secondly, whenever I donate blood, I faint. This is unfortunate for several reasons including but not limited to: It makes me look like a pansy, I have one of the most AWESOME blood types (which I can't currently recall), and I really like to eat the snacks and juice they give you after donating. My conclusion--this is not the job for me.

Gin and Titonic....

Ran across this on the internet today. Because what's more fun than reenacting a famous tragedy all in the glass of your cocktail?
